1948 生於台灣
1976–1980首度油畫個展於臺灣省立博物館，同年遊學於歐美
1992 應邀於國立美術館舉行個展—「國王的夢」，並典藏作品
1995 台北市立美術館個展—「夢魘」，並典藏作品—「尊嚴的符號」
1998 高雄市立美術館「創作論壇」—「從結構、解構、再結構的黃銘哲」黃銘哲個展，並典藏立體作品
2001 「千濤拍岸」台灣美術一百年，國立台北藝術大學關渡美術館展出胡永芬、廖仁義策展
上海美術館新館，「上海—台北風華再現」黃銘哲個展，並典藏作品「東區的一群女人」
台北市立美術館，「信仰的打造」黃銘哲立體作品個展
2004 「立異—九○年代台灣美術發展」台北市立美術館
